May 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Monday, repeating until May 17, 2021

MONDAY CLASS WITH REV. STEPHANIE This is Our Story, This is Our Song, April 12 - May 17, 2021 Monday afternoons,1-2:30 PM OR Monday nights, 7-8:30 PM (the same material will be discussed in both meetings) On April 12 we will begin a study entitled This is Our Story, This is Our Song - a small group study for cross-racial/cross-cultural ministry congregations. The readings can be downloaded HERE, or you may pick up a copy from the Church Drop Box in the wooden cabinets on the carport of the Ministry Center. Classes will be primarily virtual with some classes held outside at EUMC (weather permitting). Rev. Giovanni Arroyo, the Assistant General Secretary of the General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR), will be our guest leader for one of the sessions. Cross-racial and cross-cultural appointments are made as a creative response to increasing racial and ethnic diversity in the church and in its leadership. Cross-racial and cross-cultural appointments are appointments of clergypersons to congregations in which the majority of their constituents are different from the clergyperson’s own racial/ethnic and cultural background. Emmanuel UMC is excited about the appointment of the Rev. Edgardo Rivera as our new senior pastor, effective July 1st, 2021. We are committed to preparing ourselves for this exciting journey of mutual learning as we prepare to welcome Rev. Rivera. Join Monday Afternoon's Zoom Meeting by clicking HERE.
