|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 8:30 am, repeating until January 20, 2021

Daily Prayer & Mindfulness Gatherings Emmanuel pastors would like to offer you the opportunity to join daily prayer and mindfulness gatherings on Zoom from now until the inauguration on January 20. We know than many of us are anxious about more possible violence and sad about how we got to this moment. This is a chance for folks to check in and share, relax with the singing bowl, and enjoy a time of silence together and a prayer. These daily 15-minute gatherings will be held at 8:30 AM beginning Thursday, January 14 through Wednesday, January 20. The Zoom link can be accessed HERE. For call-in information, click HERE.

MONDAY BOOK STUDY WITH REV. STEPHANIE Morality: Restoring the Common Good in Divided Time by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks Monday afternoons,1-2:30 PM OR Monday nights, 7-8:30 PM (the same material will be discussed in both meetings) This class will start on Monday January 18th at 1pm and 7pm and will last for 15 weeks: In Morality, respected faith leader and public intellectual Rabbi Jonathan Sacks traces today's crisis to our loss of a strong, shared moral code and our elevation of self-interest over the common good. We have outsourced morality to the market and the state, but neither is capable of showing us how to live. Sacks leads readers from ancient Greece to the Enlightenment to the present day to show that there is no liberty without morality and no freedom without responsibility, arguing that we all must play our part in rebuilding a common moral foundation.
