Join us for Blues Ash Wednesday, an evening of worship that includes soulful music and the opportunity to reflect on God’s presence and love in our lives. Singer-songwriter Rev. Kim Capps will be sharing blues and other contemporary music with the help of some wonderful musicians. This year we will be joined by national heritage fellow & international blues artist Phil Wiggins.
“Why blues on Ash Wednesday? As we mark the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday, we are invited to reflect on who we are in relationship with God. For me, blues music gave me a place to meet all sides of myself, sides that I didn’t think would be welcome in church. But in sharing those sides of myself through blues in the church, it has helped remind all of us that we are welcome and loved as we are. So often we think that God is seeking perfect, well behaved people. But God sees us as we are – singing laments, laughing deeply, and wandering through life with questions. We can bring all of that to this time and space, and hear that we are beloved. “ Rev. Kim Capps
