“Fourth” Sunday Live, “What Do All These Letters Mean?”, 10:15-11:15 AM

June 28 @ 10:15 am - 11:15 am

What Do All These Letters Mean?

Presenters: Kelly Brooks-Hailey, LGBTQ Consultant and Catherine Hyde, Founder Navigating What’s Next: Coaching Consulting and Training

It seems the list of letters for the LGBTQIAA+ community just keeps growing! We’ll break down the alphabet soup and explore the latest trends. Come away with a better understanding of the community and the information you need to engage with the members of the community with confidence. We’ll dispel myths and provide a safe space to ask all those questions you hesitate to ask.

Kelly Brooks-Hailey is a PFLAG National Board member, a PFLAG National Diversity & Inclusion Committee member, and serves as the Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator at PFLAG Howard County. Kelly works with businesses and organizations in Maryland to help mobilize strategic job quality and equity strategies that work for everyone. She is a consultant having obtained her Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from UMBC, and is committed to organizational change starting at the top and throughout the company. She is passionate about her work and journey with PFLAG and hopes to help create a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable chapter network throughout the US.

Catherine Hyde is founder of Navigating What’s Next, a coaching, consulting and training firm focusing on nonprofits that serve or want to better serve the LGBTQ community. Catherine did not listen to her child when, at the age of 4, he told her that something had gone wrong in her belly and that he was supposed to be a she. She did not understand transgender or gender identity until NPR educated her years later. Since becoming educated, Catherine has volunteered with PFLAG and speaks and trains on transgender understanding and sensitivity. Catherine also serves on PFLAG’s National Board of Directors and has testified before the Transgender Task Force of the U.S. Senate’s LGBT Caucus on safety issues facing our trans youth.
