JOIN REV. MARTINA FOR AN ART-BASED WELLNESS CHECK-IN
Fridays at 7pm
(a 30 min virtual event)
Description: “Draw Nigh to God” is an ongoing weekly wellness check-in group that allows the community to connect with one another through the process of art-making. By sharing inspirational scriptures, identifying the “roses and thorns” of the previous week, while establishing a self-care goal for the week ahead, it is hoped that participants will learn how to draw closer to God, and one another.
Prior to the call, participants are encouraged to identify one inspirational scripture. During the call, participants will be guided through the process of making an “I feel” mandala in response to their scripture, or some other part of their week. A mandala is a Sanskrit word that means “circle.” Some view it as a grounding place or starting point. Studies have shown that there are health benefits associated with drawing inside circular shapes. All are welcome! No artistic experience is necessary, as there is no right or wrong, no good or bad, and you cannot mess this up!
Materials to gather for the call:
1. A blank journal, or a blank sheet of paper (ie. computer paper, drawing paper, etc.)
2. A pencil with eraser
3. A circular shaped object that you can use to draw your mandala (ie. saucer, glass, etc.)
4. Any art materials you have (ie. markers, crayons, oil pastels, colored pencils, found objects, glue, paper or fabric scraps, leaves, twigs, etc.)
5. A non-judgmental spirit and an open mind
