Sunday School -- 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
The first day of Sunday School is September 11th! We use a curriculum
called Seasons of the Spirit. This series is lectionary based which means
everyone in the church will be learning about the same stories. The
scripture read in church, will be the same ones the children hear in
Sunday School.
Sunday School is available for children preschool age to 12th grade and
adults. Our teachers receive training and are very dedicated. During the
Sunday School hour, we enjoy Bible stories, make crafts and have time for
worship. We also take an offering during the worship time. In addition,
children learn music from our music director and receive Communion
periodically.
The Purpose of Sunday School
"Christian disciples today are invited to know and experience God as
present and active in our everyday lives and in our world. The invitation
is to know God in a uniquely Christian way. The biblical understanding of
'knowing' has to do with knowing 'who' and knowing 'how' as well as
knowing 'that.' In other words, it is an intimate and personal way of
knowing God, much like the way we know those we love." (Foundations for
Teaching and Learning, page 23).
United Methodist Youth Ministry-UMY
All youth in grades 6th-12th are invited to attend. Starting in September,
we will meet on the first and third Sunday and one other time to participate
in activities that strengthen our belief in God and to provide time for
fellowship. Other events are planned each month such as a lock-in, pool
party, service project or a retreat. At various times throughout the year,
meetings may also be held for parents to discuss issues facing our youth.
The mission of the United Methodist Youth of Emmanuel is to provide a
risk-free environment that encourages its' members to develop and deepen
their faith in God and to direct the youth towards a life that calls them to
minister to others. This can be accomplished with the support of peers,
parents and the church body.
